Kelly’s Reading List

I was very excited to be listed on the Campaign for Youth Justice’s 2020 Summer Reading List. And I plan to look at the books from the other author’s who are listed. Like me, Kelly, the young protagonist in The Car Thief, is a voracious reader. Early in the novel, while in a children’s emergency shelter, he picks up a tattered old copy of The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart. I read this book in high school and it’s still one of my all time favorite novels. Who was Merlin, the famed magician of Camelot? From the back of the book: Mary Stewarts brings to vibrant life one of the world’s great legends and sheds a fascinating new light on the turbulence and mystery of fifth-century Britain. Try it and see what you think! If you like it there’s three sequels that follow.
